High-level technical service is provided by the SCA R& D Centre. Founded in 1946, the R&D Centre employs over 80 people. Work on containerboard includes containerboard research, new product development, quality control and troubleshooting for SCA Containerboard paper mills and customers. To tackle these challenges the centre’s researchers are armed with degrees in pulp and paper engineering, physics, chemistry and biochemistry. With its state-of-the-art laboratory, SCA R&D Centre is able to conduct over three-dozen different kinds of tests measuring hundreds of pulp and paper parameters.
