We care for Food Safety!

Food safety is a top priority among EU and national authorities. This leads to a stricter regulatory environment also for food packaging materials and articles. We are closely following regulatory initiatives both on EU and national level through our own internal expertise as well as through heavy involvement with our trade associations. We are continuously updating our standards to meet any new requirements and regulations.

The area of food safety is technically complex and requires knowledge not only on the legal aspects but also extensive understanding of pulp and paper production, chemicals, microbiology, recycling, converting, testing methods just to name a few  examples. At our Research & Development Centre, we have a long tradition of involvement in this area due to our broad expertise on the subjects above.

For many years SCA Containerboard has been coordinating extensive testing programmes for all of our packaging paper grades which have formed a extensive platform to support our customers in the food supply chain to help them choose the right paper grades for their particular application.
