Strike in our Munksund mill
16/04/2010
The Swedish paper workers' union, Pappers, has enforced a strike in six paper mills in Sweden, including our SCA Containerboard mill in Munksund.
At the moment we are not in the position to foresee the length of the strike as it is entirely depending on the outcome of the collective contract negotiations. The union has informed that whenever an agreement cannot be found in the next 10 days, an additional six mills will be affected by a strike, including our SCA Containerboard mill in Obbola.
We must also direct the attention to the fact that an overtime ban is enforced in the whole paper industry in Sweden, meaning that all paper mills can suffer of production stops at any moment.
Despite the short notice, SCA Containerboard has done all possible to arrange our production cycles to minimise impacts on Munksund products; depending on the length of the time of the action we cannot rule out a shortage of some grades. We sincerely hope that an agreement will be reached soon and we apologise to our Customers for any possible supply delay that might occur as a consequence of this action. We will keep our Customers informed in any possible way about the development, including through this website channel.
