Merger agreement between ECO & GEO

07/01/2010

During the Annual Congress in Berlin in October 2009, a Merger Agreement between European Containerboard Organisation (ECO) and le Groupement Européen Ondulé (GEO) was signed in order to create Cepi ContainerBoard (CCB).

GEO was founded in 1960 to represent the interests of containerboard producers based on recovered paper, whereas ECO was created in 2001 as successor of the former Kraft Institute (KI), which originally represented the Scandinavian producers of containerboard made from virgin fibres.

Already in 2006 GEO and ECO decided to combine the common interest and know-how of both associations; however, it was the intention of both, from the beginning, to merge both associations into Cepi ContainerBoard. The effective date of the merger was January 01, 2010.

Mr. Fernando Padrón / Europac was elected CCB President, he will succeed Mr. Heiko Bayerl, who will be Past President, as of January 1, 2010.  Mr. Yves Herbaut / Emin Leydier was elected 1st Vice President and Mr. Stefano Rossi / SCA Packaging  2nd Vice-President.

Managing Director of CCB is Mr. Klaus Spielmann.
